A night of Blues Gospel, performed by Kings and Associates, bringing
some of the most iconic gospel blues tunes of the ages. This special
performance developed by the band during lock-down, and launched as
part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival, features their seven-piece lineup
consisting of the 3 vocalists: Angie Portolesi, Greg Jones and Benny
Cunningham, along with Matt Williams on Guitar, Kelv Sugars on Drums,
Steve Portolesi on bass, and the amazing Paul White on Hammond
Organ.Take Me To The River honours the remarkable cultural movement
from the 20th century and the music that stirred generations with
impassioned lyrics expressing the reality of oppression and hope.
Featuring artists such as Blind Willie Johnson, Mavis Staples, Skip
James and Mississippi John Hurt, Take Me To The River is a performance
that inspires leaving audiences feeling like they’ve just had a
‘religious experience'!!
