Exquisite Familiar
April 19 - 28 | Nautilus Arts Centre | Exhibition
After the first iteration of Access2Arts’ The Exquisite Familiar collaborative art project, where artworks by eleven disabled artists were displayed at the Art Gallery of South Australia and MOD. Museum, Access2Arts are now bringing the project to the beautiful Eyre Peninsula. Seven disabled artists from around the region will be paid to take part in workshops in Port Lincoln and online, where they will create their very-own ‘Exquisite Familiar’ creatures. They will utilise the Exquisite Corpse-style art form to explore and illustrate the barriers associated with disability through the lens of familiars - uncanny creatures found throughout history in folklore who help and protect their owners. These imaginative artworks will then be displayed to the public in a consistently changing and interactive format in a fun digital art exhibition at SALT Festival.
