April 18 - 26 | Nautilus Arts Centre From the artist behind the SALT Festival Poster for 2026, Gabrielle Waters brings an exhibition to the SALT Shaker! Suspended here in a pastel world, these plastic soldiers strike a serious pose, mid-battle, rigid, voiceless. Moulded and mass produced in green, brown, and cream, they come equipped with rifles, grenades and bravado. They quietly teach children about power, control, the ally & the enemy long before they understand the weight of war. Set against a gentle backdrop, Individually, all alone, they seem misplaced here, like they showed up for war but found themselves in a watercolour dream. Have you ever looked at a portrait and wondered why additional objects have been included? Have you ever wondered about the objects painted in a Still Life painting? These things may tell you a little more about the person in the portrait or the painter of a Still Life setting. Well, the Port Lincoln Art Group decided to make Still Life paintings that tell a story about the owner of the objects. The owner maybe an art group member, they could be a friend or a family member. Why do these items mean a lot to them, do they suggest what they love, what they collect or what they are interested in? Stitches & Stories

18 - 25 April | 12pm - 3pm | Doddlife Photography Studios Exhibition Opening and Talk April 22nd 6pm - 9pm ‘Stitches and Stories – photos on fabric’ is a collaborative exhibition by Port Lincoln locals Matthew Dodd of Doddlife Photography and Sue Catt of Sue Catt Creative, exploring the transformation of local South Australian landscapes into wearable and functional art. Matthew’s photographs, captured across the Eyre Peninsula and the Flinders Ranges, are digitally printed onto fabric and reimagined by Sue as garments and homewares including shirts, dresses, tea towels, and bags. Together, the works blur the line between image and object, art and everyday life. Grounded in principles of slow fashion and mindful making, the exhibition values quality, longevity, and thoughtful use of materials. Each piece is carefully crafted to honour both the original photograph and the landscape it represents, offering an alternative to fast, disposable design. Through stitching, folding, and wear, theimages evolve, becoming part of a lived, tactile relationship with place. At its heart, Stitches and Stories is a celebration of collaboration, sustainability, and local connection. An exhibition of photography and textiles, it invites viewers to engage with South Australian landscapes in a new way—not only to observe them, but to wear them, use them, and carry their stories forward as part of daily life.

Volcanoes of the Solar System

April 21 | 2pm | Nautilus Arts Centre Volcanism is one of the fundamental geological processes that has shaped our Solar System. With approximately 1,500 active volcanoes on Earth, that continue to sculpt the surface of our planet. The planet Mars has many ancient volcanoes, with at least 20-large volcanoes in total. Moreover, the tallest volcano in the Solar System, Olympus Mons, can be found on Mars. This volcano is around three times the height of Mt Everest and has been closely imaged by orbiting spacecraft. Venus hosts close to 100,000 volcanoes on its surface making it the most volcanically active planet in the Solar System. In addition, scientists have observed changes in the size and shape of volcanic features, indicating ongoing volcanic activity. The Moon currently has no active volcanoes, but in its ancient past, it was a highly volcanically active world, with vast plains of basaltic lava created by massive eruptions billions of years ago. In this talk, we will explore evidence for volcanism in the Solar System, which has found on all the terrestrial planets, and amazingly on some of our outer moons. Please note $2 booking fee

White Rock Film Screening

April 24 | 6pm - 9pm | Jump Ship Brewing Join National Parks and Wildlife Service for a powerful new documentary is shining a spotlight on a hidden environmental crisis in Australian waters—the longspined sea urchin’s destruction of the Great Southern Reef. White Rock, featuring acclaimed filmmaker and environmental advocate Damon Gameau, weaves together science, policy, and sustainable seafood to reveal a path forward for Australia’s struggling reefs. The film premiered at the 2025 Ocean Film Festival and went on to tour nationally with Q&A screenings. Longspined sea urchins (Centrostephanus rodgersii) have transformed once-thriving kelp forests into barren seascapes, impacting 2,000 km of coastline from southern New South Wales to Tasmania. Without urgent action, scientists warn these degraded ecosystems will be slow to recover—placing fisheries, biodiversity, and marine industries at risk.
